One of the coolest coffee joints in Bali can be found in Seminyak. It’s Revolver Espresso and it surely ain’t easy to find.
I actually heard a lot of rumours about it and I was instantly curious about this certain place which was claimed by a friend as the best coffee joint in the entire Bali. Honestly, I didn’t actually believe it, but since I had booked a trip to Bali, I decided to visit it anyway.
It was definitely a struggle to find this place. It was apparently located in the alley by the road which I didn’t expect at all. We had been riding our bike back and forth and without us knowing, we had passed the place like a hundred times (exaggeration! Can’t help it).
Anyway, after eventually finding it, we parked our bike and got inside only to be amazed by the hippy interior. It was, uh unusual and unexpected. And even more, it was located in a small place like this. The thing is, even though the size of the place is tiny, they knew how to use the limited space efficiently and at the same time, in an enticing manner. It felt like home!
Everything in Revolver Espresso just seems cozy, homey and uncomplicated.
The decor, the furnitures, and all the arrangements were just right! They actually weren’t perfectly placed, or looked neat, or even exclusive. But it was, ehm.. how can I put this? Oh, imagine a beautiful mess!
# Apple Crumble (IDR 40 k)
The apple crumble wasn’t actually the same version we usually run into. Their apple crumble had this soft, raw and easily-crumbling texture with apple tidbits inside. The flavour was not aggressive, but simply subtle, light and more like a slow kick in the mouth! On the top layer, the sweet crunchy crumbles were here and there, adding a sweet-end taste to this lovely delicacy.
# Ice Coffee – with Ice Cream (IDR 30 k)
As boring as it sounds, the ice coffee turned out to be a real deal. The perfect addition of the melting Vanilla Ice Cream even made the whole drink even more scrumptious to slurp. Seriously recommended!
# AK-47 (IDR 55 k) – poached eggs, homemade ak-47 salsa, hollandaise sauce on sour dough
Named after a gas-operated assault riffle, the whole dish was perfectly crafted and just tasted amazingly delicious. I seriously have no idea the reason behind its name, but the important thing is it was crazy good! The homemade salsa, the hollandaise sauce and the melting half-done yolk successfully shot me in the right spot by its bullet of awesomeness.
Okay, here are the extras, some drinks which I didn’t try. The juices looked perfect for the hot weather tho’. 😉
The final verdict? YOU SHOULD REALLY VISIT THE PLACE! End of discussion.
Tips: When you’re looking for the place, look carefully as it was quite easy to miss. Somehow, stumbling into this place might be easier than seriously looking for it. All you need to find is a restaurant named The Junction (located at the corner of the main road of Kayu Aya) and this Revolver Espresso is located on the alley slightly across The Junction. Alternately, you can ask people around the area and the locals will point out the place to you. As simple as that. Hope you have fun, foodventurers!
Ssshh.. Anyway, I heard that they have just opened “Baby Revs” at Jalan Petitenget 102X just at the opposite of gourmet cafe. You might want to check it out! <3
