Going Gaga for Suan Thai.

I’m going to make a quick review for one of my fav thai restaurant, Suan Thai. Actually, my whole family has Suan Thai as their favourite as well!

Honestly, I’m not exactly hardcore thai food lover. The main reason I love venturing thai restaurants in Jakarta is definitely my sister’s addiction towards that thai signature dish, Tom Yum. Up to date, I sincerely think that only Suan Thai can satisfy me with its wonderful Tom Yum

I know thai has its exotic means in using natural ingredients in creating a complicated sexy cuisine. With that in mind, I believe that thai cuisine, if done right, will have that surprising taste that will leave me wanting for more.

Suan Thai has that vital element done right. The food they served always satisfied us, so far. As a matter of fact, Suan Thai is the only thai restaurant that made us visit the place on repeat.

I will review the dishes we had the last time we had dinner there.

# Pak Cem Sai Suan Thai (IDR 50 k)

Suan Thai - Puri

To put this simply, this is rather similar to the Chinese signature dish, named “Cap Chai” (I’m pretty sure most of you know it ;)). The main ingredients are mixed vegetables, and all those mixed vegetables are stir fried to perfection. In this dish, the sauce it uses is rather different, bolder in flavour. The result was pretty nice, with lovely subtle spicy aroma and enough kick to go as the balancing dish.

# Kai Pad Med Ma Muang (IDR 70 k)

Suan Thai - Puri

This strange name is actually chicken cooked with cashew nuts, and it easily won our tastebuds over. We truly loved this! The chicken chunks were layered in crispy batter and the sweet sauce was glazing all over the chicken. The combination of crispy texture, cashew nuts, and sweet tangy sauce did a good job in satisfying us. It was almost similar with kung pao chicken, but for me, it was even better!

# Pla Tom Yam (IDR 108 k)

Suan Thai - Puri

The star of our dinner is here. The tom yum with fresh fish here was served in quite a big portion. What I loved the most about this signature dish was actually the flawless combination of sourness, saltiness, sweetness and complete freshness. With all senses of taste got to play their own parts, we were all pretty much satisfied with this bombshell. <3

To briefly sum up, Suan Thai is really worth your visit, at least once. Price-wise, some of you might think it’s a bit steep, but trust me, it’s just worth the penny!
