When I heard that they’re specialising in sausages, I was pretty excited. I meant that, all this time, we mostly know sausage as a simple food, more to a companion of a hot bun. We didn’t really get to know how good sausages can be. At The Dutch, my perspective about this drastically changed.

Our point of visit was actually to get real with The Dutch’s weekend brunch menu. Weekend brunch menu has been available for a while, but at the time of our visit, The Dutch had made some improvements and extended some choices. The menu we tried were the newest creations and we were pretty mind-blown by the delicacies presented.

Let’s start with, well, everything we had.

# Sausage and Eggs (IDR 110 k)
The Dutch Jakarta

The Dutch Jakarta
Starting with an International breakfast style, here’s sausage and eggs. As its literal meaning, the big plate has your choice of eggs (scrambles or sunny side up), your choice of sausage, beans, roasted tomato, mushroom and toasted ciabatta. The sausage (especially this chorizo), beans and egg combination was lovely. This plate will suit anybody perfectly.

# Eggs Benedict (IDR 85 k)

The king of weekend brunch is here. I mean, like this is the most favourite and the undeniably eye-pleasing menu which features perfectly poached eggs that actually burst its golden egg yolk out. Well, here at The Dutch, the Eggs Benedict was all I ever wanted. The poached eggs were perfect and the hollandaise sauce was exceptional. You can choose its companion, from chicken sausage/pork bacon/beef pastrami or simply upgrade to salmon for an extra 10k. What I suggest is that you have this with either Pork Bacon or Salmon!

# Steaks and Egg (IDR 150 k)

One of the best brunch menu ever. The flank steak cuts were juicy and tender. With the extra touch of sunny side up and mushroom, nothing can actually go wrong. Well it can, just if you don’t like good steak. This one is my most recommended menu.

# Rotisserie Chicken (Half IDR 135 k/ Whole IDR 230 k)

Rotisserie Chicken is certainly a menu that often said to be too common and simply overlooked. Good roasted chicken is easy to find, but excellent roasted chicken is hard to find. At The Dutch, the appearance of their rotisserie chicken is, hm, boring? Well, but taste-wise, for me, it definitely fall to the latter category, the excellent one. The texture of the chicken was still tender without being dry, and the skin was the best part, crunchy with good roast flavour. There are two sauces to accompany this, and I truly loved their BBQ sauce which was light and complementing the chicken very well. The aioli wasn’t bad at all too. It brought out a subtle garlic taste that I think worked well with the chicken as well. But if I had to choose, I would definitely choose BBQ sauce. Oh, did I mention how good their fries were??

# The Dutch Sausage Platter (IDR 300 k)

Housemade sausages (that I tried) had never been this good. The mixed platter of Rookworst, Chorizo, Chicken and Duck Sausage was so fulfilling and satisfying in a way, any kind of sausages never did to me. The Rookworst was so flavourful, the chorizo was spicy and bold, the chicken sausage was unbeliavably good and the duck sausage was a mind blowing piece of sausage. All these four did not cease to amaze me, and if I had to pick a favourite child, I’ll go with the duck sausage. Then if I had to pick a second favourite child, I would probably be so confused because well, my babies (yes, the chicken sausage, chorizo and rook worst) were so different, they all were so good to me. Oh, I’m a very bad parent, I shouldn’t pick a favourite child. Blame The Dutch because they’re the one that led me in this position. :p

# Peach, Strawberry Coulis, Vanilla Ice Cream (IDR 65 k)

On the sweet end, The Dutch has two selections and we tried this one. As much as I didn’t like the seemingly messy appearance, I loved every bit of the party-pleasing dessert. Why? The combination of refreshing peach and strawberry coulis along with sweet icy (home-made) vanilla ice cream was just right for every moment. For me, it showcased a very sophisticated taste, a mixed of sweet, fruity and refreshing note. The Vanilla Ice Cream was heavenly!

# Poffertjes Banana and Nutella (IDR 45 k)
Poffertjes - The Dutch Jakarta

The Dutch Jakarta
When you heard banana and nutella, can you resist the calling? I can’t! Particularly with this poffertjes (dutch mini pancakes), the combination has never been better. The soft chewy poffertjes and the generous nutella spread and banana slices were to die for! With all of those good brunch menu and all, to end it with this poffertjes was an excellent call. I was a happy man.

Good heaven well, the brunch here was pretty much an amazing one. No dishes fell short and everything was up to the standard of a good brunch. If you want to visit The Dutch anytime soon for the brunch, I suggest you try their Steak and Egg, Rotisserie Chicken, The Dutch Sausage Platter and Poffertjes Banana and Nutella.

Oh, do try their drinks too since their bar is not there for nothing. They were said to have good concoctions that will make you want for more. Me? I can’t drink alcohol at all, but I tried their mocktail which was pretty good. It’s Paradiso (IDR 45 k) and it is consisted of Grapefruit soda, lemongrass syrup, celery bitters, and basil. Tasted like a tropical paradise for me. <3
