Ultimo is definitely one of the most famous restaurants around the Seminyak area. Why is it famous amongst the local and the tourists? The romantic vibe, the social bar, the drinks, the food and above those all, the price range is pretty much very reasonable!

On my last visit which is in July 2014, I went to have a dinner with my sister and friends. It was the last day of our trip and we had a flight back home at around 10 PM. Of course we weren’t planning to go home empty-bellied, so we drove to Seminyak (initially planned to have dinner at Revolver Espresso and apparently, it is closed at 6 PM). We then headed back and almost decided to have our dinner at the airport (which would definitely not be fun) until we passed by Ultimo and instantly decided to dine in there.

It was pretty packed (as usual), but gladly, we didn’t have to wait. There was a table for the five of us at the corner of the room, so we just had a sit there.

After greeted and welcomed by the waitress, we ordered what we wanted, ranging from pizza, pasta and even chicken steak. I also ordered some desserts from Rumours Restaurant (the other restaurant under same management just around 10 metres away and yes, we could order the food by Rumours as well). I’d tasted the food and desserts at Rumours before, and I seriously loved the desserts.

During our waiting time, we had some cute company, sitting on the wall just next to us, staring (super cutely) at us. Oh, I swear she (assumed as a she :D) just constantly stared at us with that puppy eyes, half curious and half intrigued by the presence of us. I wished I could take her home! <3

The crowd here was mostly family with kids and some more, a group of friends. I specifically loved seeing one family consisting a mother and her children, as they enjoyed their dinner. It seemed like they were a very happy family. I couldn’t help but noticed that the children were unusually polite during the dinner. 🙂

# Iced Cappuccino & Vanilla Milkshake (IDR 20 k & IDR 23 k)

The prices of the drinks at Ultimo are amazingly reasonable for a restaurant in a high end area such as this. But taste-wise, the drinks were only mediocre without much to notice. I saw a lot of patrons preferred alcoholic drinks here, or even champagne.

I didn’t try some of the menu my friends ordered, though I managed to ask my friends about the taste, and they kinda loved the food. I did try the pizza and the Bolognese Spaghetti and they were pretty delicious.

# Scallopa alla Valdostana (IDR 72 k)

This is actually a stuffed chicken breast, filled with smoked beef and cheese, then served with mushroom sauce and fries. First impression? The portion was huge! And the taste was also really good, with some quality chicken breast and smoked beef. The winning point came fromthe tender texture of the chicken breast and the gorgeous cheese. I really loved how the cheese melted when I cut it into two. It was somehow appetising and sexy!

Our most-anticipated desserts came soon after we finished our food.

# Mango Crumble with Vanilla Ice Cream and Mango Coulis (IDR 33 k) | By Rumours Restaurant

With a very affordable price, the ultimate dessert really won our heart that evening. The crumble was perfect inside, served all warm and on top of the mango bits and pieces. The combination of sweet cold vanilla ice cream, the warm crispy crumble and mango coulis just turned the dessert as the perfect closure. Honestly, no other kind of crumbles I’ve ever tasted (to date) can compare.

# Light Homemade Blueberry Cheese Cake (IDR 37 k)

With a very light and smooth texture, this cheese cake was pretty scrumptious as well. Though couldn’t be compared to the cheese cake I had at The Bar, Bulgari Resort, the cheese cake was still good, considering how reasonable the price was. If you like cheese cake with lighter cheese texture, this is definitely for you.

Ultimo is exactly a deserving restaurant with all the hype and fame. Like I said, the food is good – slightly above the average, the drinks are affordable with many to choose from, the great exotic ambiance, and the price of the stuff here is reasonable. It reaches all the patrons’ needs and thus, patrons will definitely mark this place as a restaurant you will regularly come, on any occasions. Ultimo just successfully claimed its own place in the hearts of tourists.

Will I come back when I visit Bali? Yes, naturally. 🙂
