Good news! The famous Warunk Upnormal is now open in Tebet – Jakarta and Tangerang area. It’s now much easier to pay a visit if you’re living around the area.

For me, it’s actually my first time visiting Warunk Upnormal, and I had the chance to taste their proud creations, from indomie to some really good desserts. Their outlet in Tebet is actually very big, and has 3 floors that will cater for lots of customers.

The first floor is the usual hangout area, with a cashier station, non-smoking dining area and working kitchen on it. Oh, during the evening when I paid my visit here, the queue was very long! It proved that the opening of Warunk Upnormal there had massive impact to Jakartans. I myself, had no idea about why Warunk Upnormal could be as well-known as it is now. Until that evening.

The second floor is a fully equipped dining area, with separate areas for smoking and non-smoking patrons. This floor also has its own cashier for ordering and paying. Oh, their interior was well-thought. It shows the casual yet chic and fun concept. Many of its posters contain positive and funny messages on them. I can say that it somehow really represents the youthful spirit of many guests that were present that day.

All those well-thought interior designs, do not stop at the second floor. It turns out to be more creative at the third floor which is where a private function room (full of uplifting funny messages) belong! The private function room can cater around 40 people. When I was there, it was said to be unavailable for public yet, but you should make sure first by calling them! I think the private room is very suitable for business meeting, workshop, fun gathering (or arisan!), group working or group brainstorming!

Also in third floor, there’s a mushola for Muslim customers. And inside the mushola, there are also posters with messages on the wall!

As a brief explanation, Warunk Upnormal first opened in Bandung in 2014. Early 2016, with the increasing demand from Jakartans, Warunk Upnormal opened its first outlet (in Jakarta) in Cempaka Putih area.

Warunk Upnormal is a “warung” as promised, serving typical “warung” food and drinks, but with much needed improvements and with much better dining surroundings. To make things even more interesting, they have wifi, electrical sockets all around the corners, and many available board games (a guaranteed party pleaser!). For the board games, you can find UNO stacko, scrabble, and many others that will guarantee fun and laughters!

The thing is, Warunk Upnormal doesn’t just focus on their food, they do also focus on customers’ needs! The necessities of fun are crucial to make customers happy, and Warunk Upnormal really understands this. That evening, I witnessed many happy faces, happy laughters and occassionally, some screaming followed by giggles! And that’s when I truly know why Warunk Upnormal could become a very important “warung” for people, especially youngsters!
PS. They also told me that at times, some guests would lose a game in the group and had to do everything their friends agree on! Something about having to shake hand with every available waiter, or dance in the middle of the crowd! :))

# Java Chips Frappe (IDR 25k)

A fun and fulfilling frappe! The chocolate was not too strong and not too light. Just lovely!

# Banana Latte Drinks (IDR 14,5k)

Ha! This drink really reminded me of my childhood, and at that time, D*tch Lady has a banana milk!

# Soda Anggur (IDR 12,5k)

This one is a glass of soda drink with fragrant grape syrup. It’s simply a thirst-quencher, especially for a sunny day.

# Indomie Upnormal (IDR 17,5k)

The infamous Warunk Upnormal signature! No wonder, this indomie is quite most favourite. It comes with generous cheese that makes it really creamy. Topped with a slice of beef ham, the whole bowl will be slurped completely in no time. A bit of a guilty pleasure, but I can always make an exception! <3

# Nasi Gokil Upnormal (IDR 18,5k)

This was crazy good! Though, it couldn’t exceed the goodness of Indomie Upnormal, this spicy bowl was delish. It has generous amount of “kikil” and a sunny-side-up! The kikil was really good as it was coated with a great combination of spices and green chilies. Definitely a good recommendation for those who love “kikil”!

# Nasi Tongkol Balado (IDR 23,5k)

Topped with two “tongkol” and lots of balado, this was pretty good too! For spicy “tongkol” lovers, this would serve the hungry tummy very very well.

# Pisang Bakar Green Tea (IDR 16,5k)

Oh, I’m a banana maniac! This fried banana, plus the goodness of condensed milk and green tea was a pleasure for the tongue! The sweet banana and fragrant green tea, surprisingly, were destined for each other! You should try it!

# Vanilla Treasure (IDR 28,5k)

A chilly dessert is always fun to eat! This was my second favourite dessert for the evening. Do you know why? The milk and ice cream was blending so well along with delicious soft pudding, chewy bubbles, and super good nutella mochi!! I could have moreee nutella mochi all day long!

# Orange Blaster (IDR 28,5k)

Third favourite dessert! The sweet floating oranges on the pool of milk and ice cream were really good! Ah, I ate almost all of it by myself!

# Alpukat Oreo (IDR 24,5k)

Avocado monster! Yes, they should name it that. The generous meaty avocado mountain plus generous oreo crumbles are perfecf for avocado lovers. Too bad I’m not an avocado lover, so I personally couldn’t really enjoy this dish. But this certain dessert is really famous amongst loyal customers.

Truth to be said, from the bottom of my heart, Warunk Upnormal is doing really well. It sells affordable food and drinks, yet it doesn’t ignore the quality of both the food and drinks. Well, one cannot expect five-star dishes here, naturally. But if you fancy some “warung” food with reasonable prices, decent quality and extra good vibe, this is the place. And if you’re looking for a place (to eat) full of fun and energetic souls, this is totally the place too! Oh, one more thing. They have homemade “Kopi Gayo“! It will be great for coffee lovers.

Visit the new outlets (Tebet and Tangerang) this weekend, and you’ll know what I’m talking about!
