Venturing for lunch. Blueberry Pancake House.

If you are an employee in some companies, feeling excited mixed with a bit of confusion every friday, welcome to the club. It’s always somewhat a problem for all employees that are not facilitated with catering. It’s actually not a problem, it’s just a thrilling question of the day.

Makan apa ya?

In the end, we will eventually go back to our usual suspects, or at times, we will risk the glorious lunch time for foodventuring in the neigborhood.

The latter applied to me this friday. A colleague and I decided to go the extra mile in a quest to satisfy our hungry bellies.

Just within a radius of 1 mile, there are plenty to choose from, but that day, we went for a pancake house nearby called, Blueberry Pancake House. A cafe that puts one of their menu name is certainly a confident convincing cafe, right? Hm, let’s save the answer for later.

Never exactly knew but apparently, this Blueberry Pancake House is a native restaurant of Cipta Hotel. Uh, after a closer look, the hotel didn’t look too convincing actually. We decided to have a go anyway and tada, we were sitting inside ordering the pancakes.

In no time, the waitress served our pancakes on the table, … or not exactly. Well, after a snapshot or two, the shy waitress came to our table and telling me in an almost-whispering voice that she hadn’t topped our “Blueberry Pancake with cheese” with cheese. Oh o..

# Blueberry Pancake with cheese (IDR 42k)
Since the name of the eatery says loudly about this menu, we expected a big bang coming from this menu. After a close look, it’s not as what we expected. Well, not even close. It looked boring and instead of cream cheese, it used grated cheese. The blueberry sauce was nothing special as well. Honestly, I was disappointed and so was my colleague.

# Chocolava Pancake (IDR 39k)
After a dismay coming from the prime pancake, I went to dig my own chocolava. It turned out that this one did a much better job than the blueberry counterpart. Oh, maybe it’s chocolate and I have a weak point when it comes to chocolate. The chocolate used in this pancake was abundant and simply everywhere. It’s smart that they served a scoop of vanilla ice cream instead of chocolate ice cream. Should they have added a scoop of chocolate ice cream, instead of vanilla ice cream, the balance would be off grid. This whole plate was already good enough.

# Cipta salad (IDR 30k)
Coming straight from their buffet (apparently), my colleague had just realized that she ordered the wrong dish. The salad was not exactly a gourmet salad, and the vegetables and chicken chunks looked tired. The mayo they served was thousand island. It would be much better if they served it with a plain/sweet mayo and extra grated cheese.

# Green Tea Ice Blend (IDR 31k)
I didn’t even take a sip of this (I enjoyed my simple iced tea as the companion for this sinful pancakes). But according to my colleague, the green tea was too minty (don’t ask me why) and it’s strange for her.

So far, our lunch was almost “perfect“, if you know what I meant! *using my sarcastic tone* 😉 But I was glad at least, one of the dishes we ordered was good. The experience could have been worse, right? I’m working on my optimistic nature at the moment. 😀

Well, this won’t stop my foodventurous nature though. If any, I will be more foodventurous in the quest to find glorious food. See you then!
