Our New Year’s Eve Lunch at Bluegrass.

Months ago, precisely on the 31st of Dec 2013, I had lunch at Bluegrass Grill & Bar with my loved one.

It was a spontaneous decision to dine in at Bluegrass because at first, we went to this area to have lunch at Otel Lobby, a restaurant next to Bluegrass. Maybe it’s because of the eye-catching exterior that intrigued us to go inside. Well anyway, it’s our decision after all.

The afternoon was pretty nice and the weather was kind to us. Stepping inside Bluegrass, we could see the bar in the middle of the dining area. This place was made mostly from glass as the walls, thus at this kind of time, sunlight could come through the inside of the restaurant effortlessly. It made the place seem tranquil, clear and gorgeous in the eyes. Wood and rock panelling are all around the places. The combination of brown and dark grey worked very well and thus, it created an elegant impression to me. Somehow, the place seemed quite “sexy” for me.

“Smoking or Non-Smoking Area?”, the waiter asked us. Then of course I said that we preferred non-smoking area. He then guided us to a small table a bit further away by the window. The waiter sure had a good manner, professionally welcoming us. Then he gave us the menu book and left us for some time to pick our lunch.

I was having a good mood for something like a burger, western style, so I asked for recommendation and went for Steak Sandwich. My loved one chose a portion of Stuffed Chicken after some considerations. We also had a plate of dessert. Let’s see then. 🙂

# Watermelon (30 k)

Okay, it’s a glass of regular watermelon juice, but the again, I love watermelon. So yes, it tasted good and refreshing.

# Steak Sandwich (85 k)

Served with coleslaw and crispy potato slices, the so-called sandwich was huge! It was a burger with shredded and minced sirloin, and cheddar cheese. Delicious? Extremely!  The shredded sirloin was amazing. It’s rich with flavour and so juicy and succulent I kept wanting for more. I could taste the savoury cheese and sweet caramelised onions, and extra kick from the sausages. It made a perfect lunch for me. While chewing every bite, I couldn’t help but wonder how a simple dish like this, tasted so good. I really recommend this one for fans of burger or sandwich!

# Stuffed Chicken (75 k)

This dish was another great hit. It was served in a tiny serving. I wouldn’t be full if I were to eat this. But anyway, this stuffed chicken was magnificent. It was crispy outside, and juicy-ish inside. The outside was the crispy turkey bacon, and the fragrant chicken inside was stuffed with mushroom and cheese! The barbecue sauce really worked well too. Very playful in every bite. The mashed potatoes? Good!

 # Bluegrass Lychee Bread Pudding (50 k and additional 10 k for a shot of liquor)

Our dessert came in two separate small cups. One for the bread pudding (and extra liquor) and another for a scoop of ice cream. The lychee bread pudding was very classy. It had a great rough texture with flavourful layers. I could taste the lychee and the pungent-tasting liquor, combined with the sweet vanilla ice cream. It hit me with the bitter sweet taste, and it blended perfectly. “Exquisite” was what came to my mind when I had this in my mouth!

With all the experience I had here, I really fell in love with this place. The food was just superb and the place, uh, it was amazing. As fas as I know, the place used to be across from Otel Lobby, with the infamous longest bar in Jakarta. Now, I’m not sure. The Bar is still long, but not as long as it used to be I guess. But still, given that I never have the chance to visit the old Bluegrass, I don’t have any regret as the new one had satisfied me and my loved one during the lunch. It was a memorable lunch, and anyway, we came for lunch to have a little celebration because our relationship started exactly on the new year. It marked our 6-year-relationship that time. 🙂 It was a perfect place for us!

So, I just have to say, you guys should come to this place. Now, it’s located next to Otel Lobby, fairly easy to find. Price-wise, it might be a bit pricey, but I would still come back every now and then. It was worth it after all.

Visit it yourself to have a try! Bring your girlfriend or friends to hang out here. =)
