Tea time at Bradley’s British Tea House.

Tea time is actually pretty well-known activity for people around the world. But do we really know the actual definition of tea time?

Most of us actually put an assumption that tea time is an act of enjoying tea. Well, it goes deeper than that assumption. But well, don’t ask me for the clear explanation. You can either google or ask the owners of Bradley’s Tea House.

I honestly was pretty ignorant. But after enjoying my time here in Bradley’s British Tea House and chatted with Ms. Savira, I got to know more about it. Did you know the difference between afternoon tea and high tea? 😀

From the facade, Bradley’s looks a bit like the house of a hobbit! Yeah, that hobbit from the Lord of The Rings‘ franchise in a sense that the building looks tiny, vintage and comfortable. Somehow, the position of Bradley’s can be considered strategic, but at the same time, can often be overlooked due to its minute size.

Despite the size, the inside is comfortable with pretty ornaments and decors. The lay out of the room is well-thought, and the position between tables is arranged thoughtfully to prioritise the comfort of patrons. Interior-wise, they tried their best to create the British vibe where people can just chill and enjoy their time throughout the day.

The table setting was pretty neat here. The service was excellent as well with each waiter fully understand what they were doing. We came around 3 pm, and there were quite a few group enjoying their tea set. Just fyi, Bradley’s opens at 2 pm to 10 pm. A perfect time span for sipping some tea.

By this point, I am sure there are a few of you that raise your eyebrows and somehow ask ,”How come night time is good for tea?”. Well, some people might assume that tea contains high-level of caffeine and will simply put your eyes to a state of awakening after consumption. But, well, there are some options of tea with low-level of caffeine. For example, Nayara White does contain very low caffeine and is actually a good fit if you feel like having a good night sleep.

During the visit, we started strong with Set Menu No.2 which includes 2 pieces of Scone, 1 piece of Tuna Melt Sandwich, 1 piece of Potato Pancakes, 2 pieces of Toffee Date Pudding and 2 pieces of Chocolate Salted Caramel.

# Set Menu 2 (IDR 175 k)

The set menu consists of savoury and sweet dishes. From bottom to top, everything was presented beautifully. The savoury dishes was put on the first level, presenting potato pancakes, tuna melt sandwich and scones with homemade whipped cream and cranberry jam. I especially love the potato pancakes, which have the texture combination of hash brown and chinese omelette (Fuyunghai ;P). The tuna melt sandwich was pretty epic too with generous melting cheese and tuna.

Since I am never a fan of scones, I couldn’t really appreciate it. Tho’ I heard that their scones are pretty close to the original version.

The second level was pretty interesting with the presence of toffee date pudding and vanilla ice cream. Despite its unattractive appearance, the toffee date pudding was really good, with appropriate sweetness. With the addition of vanilla ice cream, the toffee date pudding received a positive upgrade.

On top of it, there were 2 pieces of chocolate salted caramel with seducing looks. The tart looked really good and actually tasted superb. The combination of sweet and saltiness with lingering gooey dark chocolate custard made them the king and the queen of the whole set menu.

Here’s the whole set menu at sight. <3

# Tres Leches (IDR 40 k)

One of the sexiest starts for the day is this Tres Leches, or sometimes better-known as Milk Cake. The Tres Leches was beautifully presented and the texture was really light and fluffy with very nice chilling cream on top. What I really love about the cake is that it was made with less sweetness without decreasing the addictive quality. I really think that this cake is simply perfect as the companion of hot tea.

# Nayara White (IDR 63 k)

One of the rare kinds in the tea family, this Nayara White is said to be very low-caffeine. It suits perfectly if you wish to enjoy it in the late afternoon without having to say goodbye to your good night sleep. The tea is very light and fragrant, with soothing flavour.

Oh, the tea pot is super pretty with its flowery pattern and playful colours!

To sum up our experience here, everything here just seemed right. The interior, the vibe and the quality of food and tea were spot on. The tea time experience really brought us to light, as we did not just enjoy our time there, but we got to be enlightened by one of the owner herself. Price-wise, everything seems decent and the prices stated on the menu book have included 10% government tax.

For those who love having your peaceful tea time with great cakes and stuff, do check this petite place, Bradley’s British Tea House and experience the uplifting quality tea time.

Oh, one more good thing, coffee is now also available there! <3
