It’s a Wonderful Brunch. Cut Catch Cucina – Sofitel Nusa Dua Beach Resort. Part 1.

Okay, by now, if you follow my instagram account, you should have known that I am a hardcore lover of the little exotic island called Bali.

The novelty of visiting the city has never worn off of me. There’s always something new, something exciting there that will leave me ‘bali’-sick in countless occassions. With my blog, I know I just have to write more about my trip there, but I just couldn’t find the time. There are always too many things to write with too little time to spare for writing (oh yes, writing is NOT easy! Editing pictures takes time as well!). So now, I’m stealing my time every day to write about the places I visited. It’s like a deadline and anyway, I’m visiting the city again this late December. Hooray!

Let me warn you first tho’, this post will be long! So I cut it into two parts. This is basically the first part with more coverage about CCC itself.

One of my most memorable visits happened to be just this late July. I asked my friends (Bali Foodies) about brunch recommendation by the beach and they ended up pointing at Sofitel Nusa Dua. Without further ado, we planned our visit (at the last second day) and made reservation directly with the restaurant, Cut Catch Cucina (or simply CCC). We stayed at a hotel in the area of Seminyak. But going to Nusa Dua was easy, since we kinda know Bali like the back of our hand (well, I might have exaggerated a bit there, but the truth is we had our smartphones with us, and if we’re feeling lost, the Google Maps application helped like a ton!).

Riding bike in Bali is somehow heavenly. It’s simply very different compared to riding it here in Jakarta. The air is cleaner there with less pollution (but well, it’s getting worse there too to be honest) and the road is better as well. Plus, we can always turn around when we make a wrong turn). Oh, and another important point is that traffic jam DOES happen in Bali! So, rather than stuck in an air-con car for like an hour, I prefer riding bike even though it’s all hot and sweaty.

Going with bike to Nusa Dua normally takes 20-30 minutes. We could use the above the sea toll way and enjoy the breeze and view while short-cutting our way there. One of the best parts in this trip!

After reaching the Nusa Dua area, we managed to find Sofitel at ease and parked at the available parking lot for bikes. Dear heaven, we had reached the IT place!

Sofitel apparently was quite pretty, just like what my friends told me. The lobby was pretty simple but lovely with Balinese touch, of course.

The architecture was superb and the round ceiling was pretty iconic.

It was a public holiday (for Idul Fitri), so a surge of guests was quite expected. But the only things we didn’t expect there was the messy guests. The guests were loud and unorganized.

We walked our way around the hotel and went downstairs until we’ve reached the ground level where a restaurant was seen. No, it wasn’t Cut Catch Cucina. It’s the other restaurant belong to Sofitel. Many guests were still finishing their breakfast. It was almost 11 at that time. We walked pass the restaurant and eventually reached our safe haven, Cut Catch Cucina.

Cut Catch Cucina is a stylish restaurant, almost by the beach. The only thing separated the restaurant to the beach is the divine swimming pool. But, uh, when we wanted to swim there, the pool had been occupied by big crowd. More about that later!

“Hi, good morning! Have you made reservation?” said one of the friendly usher. She expected us to be foreigner, so I said, “Yes. I made my reservation under the name Prawnche, oh, umm.. Cole!”

The ugly truth is, my name has not always been my name. The weird spelling and seemingly-hard pronunciation have always made baffled, most of the time, so I sometimes have to improvise and make my life easier by mentioning my ‘fake’ name, Cole. Yes, I made my reservation under the name “Cole”. My social media’s name is Cole Lense after all.

The usher then invited us in and guided us to our desired table, which of course, by the window. Daylight is too beautiful to be missed!

The outdoor seating was equally beautiful, with more nature-blending atmosphere.

We were briefed with the brunch system, which by the way, that we already learned from my beloved friends. “We will have our brunch without the alcohol drinks, thank you”, so I said.

The brunch we had, had included non-alcohol beverages. It cost us IDR 399k++ per pax. But as a spoiler, it was simply worth every penny!

Okay, I will let the photos do the job in visualizing the wondeful dishes we had!

In CCC, there were many stations available from the right side to the left. In the middle of the room, there was a station full of countless appetizers to nibble. At the right corner, fresh seafood was displayed and guests got to indulge freely in seafood feast. In the middle, there was a grilling station with super deluxe meaty options (my favourite station!). At one point near the front door, there were many fresh breads and pastry. And there was also a specific corner for pasta and pizza! Then, there was a final hidden corner where all chocolate and heavy cream belong, the dessert station! <3

Here’s all the pictures of things that had gone straight to our bellies.

Mind some coffee?

Many mocktail creations were available to be enjoyed.

And so many food to indulge.

How could we not love the pastry?

And the grill station did spoil us like a baby.

And the munchie bites.

And the deadly desserts.

Cheese heaven with all its condiments!

One of the best things here is that they had French Brunch a la Carte Menu that we can order to enjoy. Oh, don’t worry, the menu selections were included with the brunch package, so no additional charges. We just ordered almost everything there, and had a blast!

Thankfully, the a la carter menu came in a small portion. CCC probably understood very well that guests would just have a taste of the menu selections, instead of fulfilling belly with just a plateful of the dish. If you’re fond of a specific menu, just order it as much as you like then. CCC will be happy to serve you!

Egg Benedict, champagne ham, smoked salmon.

Egg Cocotte, butter poached, osetra caviar.

Pan Seared Scallop Mousse, lemon pumpkin puree, baby bork choy, truffle jus.

Pan Seared Foie Gras, spice brioche and raisin crumble, foie gras dust, caramel walnuts, apple puree, star aniese orange jus.

Butter Poached Lobster Tail, squid ink tagliolini, red pepper marmalade, bisque emulsion, seaweed crisp.

250 days Grain Fed Cube Roll, sticky oxtail, sauce mushroom, fondant potato, asparagus ribbon, and rosemary jus.

I wished I could have tried all the a la carte menus, but, my belly said stop, so I stopped. Though, I cheated a bit actually 😉

Some of the notable a la carte menu is Egg Benedict with champagne ham and smoked salmon, Egg Cocotte with butter poached, osetra caviar, 250 days grain fed Cube Roll with sticky oxtail, saute mushroom, fondant potato, asparagus ribbon and rosemary jus, and Butter Poached Lobster Tail with squid ink tagliolini, red pepper marmalade, bisque emulsion and seaweed crisp.

The a la carte desserts were divine and simply pretty. Not even one dessert could be complained!

From all stations, the dessert station was hard to ignore. There were plenty of (pretty) cakes, chocolate fountain with marshmallow to smoke, and even ice cream machine for your infinitive pleasure.
Calory was just a tale in the CCC zone!
