A Taste of Coffee Kulture.

One of the greatest findings for me this year is certainly the coffee haven that I’m going to write about. It’s Coffee Kulture.

Located in Pluit, Coffee Kulture is definitely one to pay a visit, even if you’re not a coffee person. Why so? There are several reasons which can easily be listed down, but to be brief, in the bigger picture, they do not just serve coffee, they serve other drinks such as Kiamboy Juice and Milo Dino. To add a follow up reason, the food is certainly one to look out!

For coffee, Coffee Kulture joins the trend and serve satisfying cold brew as well. I tried the Sumatra Lintong and it was really great, with bright fruity note and clean aftertaste. Loved it!

Let’s jump to the main course! Introducing Baoger, the child of newly-wedded Bao & Burger! There are 6 total options to choose from. Check them out below!

# The Exotic Asian (IDR 69 k)

This Baoger is truly with Asian character. Consisting of thai-style grilled chicken, lemongrass mayo to elevate the flavour, crushed peanuts and cilantro. The result is pretty mind-blowing. It tasted like a summer feast with bursting flavour in the mouth.

# The Ultimate (IDR 69 k)

Look at that generous in-between! This Ultimate Baoger certainly lives up to its name. It is consisted of the real champ – 100r Real Beef Patty, generous amount of caramelized onions and crispy bacon (pork/beef)! For me, this is by far the best amongst all. It might sound old school with the standard all-american elements, but when it comes to taste, this baoger is everything but standard. I loved the juicy beef patty, I loved the intense sweet edge of the caramelized onion, and I truly loved how the bacon crispy texture and gorgeous flavour ended the lingering addiction in my mouth. The mayo was perfectly suitable for all of this goodness as well. Ultimately, I am going to score this baoger 10 out of 10.

# The Hook (IDR 69 k)

Though it may look messy and blunt, looks can be deceiving. For those, who would like to have either a less intense or less meaty options, this will accommodate just fine. The Hook is consisted of breaded fish fillet, melted cheddar cheese, wasabi mayonnaise, kyuri (japanese cucumber) and onion. Compared to the other types of baogers, this baoger is a breath of fresh air. It tasted humble and calm with the deep fried breaded fresh fish fillet as the main show. Overall, it was lovely!

# The Smokey Pork (IDR 69 k)

Pork-lovers, raise your hand! This was one of the bests for the day too. With generous amount of BBQ pulled pork, kyuri, onion and sunny side up, this baoger was delicious. The pulled pork was given quite generously and the bbq sauce was nicely intense but not overwhelming. Hail the pork!

# The Sweet Chick Baoger (IDR 69 k)

Who loves charsiew? This Sweet Chick Baoger is one to look out. Consisted of fried chicken with ‘red’ sauce (charsiew sauce), boosted up with double melted cheddar cheese, and sunny side up, this baoger won both the beauty and taste competitions. It looks really good, with tempting melting cheese. The red chicken inside was really gorgeous as well, it tasted sweet and fragrant. This was almost as good as the Ultimate Baoger, but it stood on its own. 😉

# The Wake Me Up (IDR 69 k)

This last baoger is consisted of 100gr real beef patty, smashed avocado, melted cheddar cheese, and sunny side up. It might be most suitable for breakfast with lighter touch and probably guilt-free avocado. Quite refreshing. 🙂

Note:

# Landak Pao (IDR 25.8 k) – with nutella filling

These cute paos are such cutie pies. Nutella in a pao turned out to be pretty good.

# Kiamboy Juice (IDR 35 k)

The Kiamboy Juice is one of the refreshing choices at Coffee Kulture. First sip and I loved it. The typical refreshing kiamboy character was solid. Complete refreshment!

I did try the hot latte here too. The latte art was real pretty. The taste of the latte soothed my mind as well!

Coffee Kulture surely won my heart in an instant. The Baoger especially impressed me and left me craving for more. The magic of this pao and burger hybrid works so well, resulting in a unique experience lingering in my tastebuds. In addition, aside from the baoger, they do also serve rice dishes and pastas.

I guess, if you visit North Jakarta often, especially the around Pluit area, you should really drop by and taste the Baoger for yourself. And for a starter, I strongly suggest you to try either The Ultimate Baoger or The Sweet Chick Baoger. I am 97% sure that you will love it! 😉

PS. They have just opened a new branch at the Baywalk. Visit them there too, yes?
