Hi, foodventurers! It’s already the fourth day of this new year, but I still couldn’t believe that we have reached the year of 2015. The holiday might be over now, but hey, let me introduce you to a beautiful eatery in Kuningan area, which is newly-opened. I came here for an early dinner on the New Year’s Eve. And perhaps, you can come here next weekend. 🙂
The name is Bottega Ristorante, and yes, by the name itself you can probably imagine about how artsy and pretty the place is. But well, rather than imagining things, how about seeing it from the pictures below? 😀
When entered the dining area inside, there’s a strong feeling of stepping inside an upscale restaurant with exotic artsy interior, without the pretentious factor. The concept seemed very carefully thought and I could imagine how attentive the people behind Bottega in creating this sort of interior. I especially loved their way of utilizing the vintage looking bulbs, the minimalist ornaments, the sofa and the rattan chairs, and also, the table setting. Oh, did I mention that most part of the floor were tiled meticulously to create the figure of pretty peacock tail? Not only that, little part of the wall has that figure too. Those peacock tail figures were undoubtedly pleasing in the eyes, and of course, just like a peacock, it made the place very pretty (and proud).
These will definitely be the favourite seatings for patrons. They look classy and cozy. Ladies will definitely pick these seatings to have a sit.
This is where the drinks are made, and the coffee is served. The minimalist bar looked classy somehow. Well, for the orchid, who wouldn’t love it?
Well, the outdoor dining area is as pretty as the indoor. The seating here is perfect for those who smoke. When it’s cloudy and windy, it will definitely be a good place to sit for hours of eating, drinking and chatting. But well, when it’s raining, not really.
Let’s go to the important part of the post. The food and drinks!
Good news! For coffee, Bottega teams up with Common Grounds and I do think that it certainly is a great idea. Common Grounds is always known for its fine coffee and this teaming up situation will certainly build the confidence for Bottega itself. Coffee lovers should be rest assured because they will certainly be ‘guaranteed’ in having their coffee dose alright!
# Latte (IDR 32 k)
Like they said, it’s always good to have coffee in a rainy day. This time, at Bottega, the latte was perfectly good (yes, it was raining outside). The consistency of the coffee and the steamed milk was perfect and I loved the subtle sweetness coming from the milk, as it comforted my taste buds. In addition, the acidity from the coffee was almost none, and it’s good for me.
# Cappuccino (IDR 32 k)
Another taste-buds pleaser for the day. A hot cup of cappuccino which was equally great. There’s a certain bittersweetness coming from it. Oh yes, I just need to tell you that I never add sugar in my cappuccino/latte. I love it the way they are.
#Beef & Lamb Gyros with Rice Pilaf (IDR 75 k)
I have to be honest as I never actually tasted Rice Pilaf before. I just knew that it is supposed to be some kinds of broth-seasoned rice, almost like a risotto or a denser version of porridge. In this case, the rice pilaf was seasoned with garlic which I think, in terms of flavour, was a bit too subtle. I could barely taste the garlic at all in the rice pilaf, making it seemed like eating undercooked porridge. The beef & lamb gyros were not helping at all as they were too dry and thin with no significant flavour. In case you have no idea about gyros, you can imagine kebab. The taste is similar. To add more, Tzatziki Yogurt was served as the companion for the gyros. However, again, it didn’t contribute in any significant flavour. To conclude, this dish didn’t really do anything to me. If I can advise, they have to do something with the dish to improve the flavour.
# Greek Lamb Burger (IDR 99 k)
For you burger lovers, this is the man! The lamb patty was thick and juicy with salacious meaty flavour. The semi-melting cheese on top was definitely a good savoury booster. It played a good part in giving the patty an extra upgrade. One thing to complain though, hm.. what’s up with people making burger in mini size?
And oh yeah, the fries (nope, not ordinary fries, in fact, we should call it chips) were great. They were thin, crisp and seasoned very well.
# Dolci Al Cioccolate – Warm Italian Flourless Chocolate Cake (IDR 55 k)
It was explained by the waiter with the description of a lava cake, but without flour. When it was served, it definitely looked like a lava cake. But when cut, no gorgeous melting chocolate. No sexy lava pouring out. No nothing? Just chocolate cake, um, without the flour. 🙁 To be fair, in terms of taste, it was pretty good. The texture was soft, mushy and moist in the inside with a bit of a dry crisp effect on the outer layer. The ice cream helped in cheering me up.
Bottega Ristorante is certainly welcomed as a new restaurant with pretty ambiance. I myself, personally loved Bottega Ristorante, mostly thanks to their gorgeous interior. I am somehow the kind who really appreciate good ambiance, the one that makes you want to stay there by yourself all day long, or maybe the one that makes you want to bring your girlfriend/boyfriend for a romantic dinner. Yes, Bottega Ristorante is perfect for a dinner date. In addition, I also think that it is a good place for casual lunch and business meeting as well.
In terms of food, there are certainly room for improvement. But what I’ve tasted are only a few out of many more. So, my review above cannot be your absolute reference. It’s strictly based on my visit and my taste preference. Price-wise, I do think the prices are fair enough. In fact, I do not consider it expensive at all, mostly due to my affection towards the prettiness of the interior.
Should you come here? IMHO, yes! You should visit Bottega Ristorante and judge it yourself. Well, just don’t forget to bring your girlfriend/boyfriend. 😀
I managed to capture some shots of the facade at the evening. Big love. Here they are.
And, uh, a selfie. I couldn’t help it since the place is super pretty.
