If you are obsessed with crabs, raise your hand! This post is dedicated to those who adore crabs and the big family.
Dancing Crab, which is originally founded in Singapore, has recently decided to relocate from the Lotte Avenue Shopping Mall to a standalone restaurant which is now located in the prime area, Senopati. I really think that the relocating decision is certainly a good call, knowing that mostly people might be too lazy to go to a mall when seafood craving calls. It’s definitely better to know that we can always just head to the location, park and just hop in the restaurant to enjoy the crab without all the fussiness. Finding parking space in the parking lots can sometimes be the first world problem!
With the new location, Dancing Crab is now reintroducing their Louisiana Seafood and of course, their main star, the crab! D
For a brief introduction, Dancing Crab is Louisiana Seafood restaurant that serves a mix of robust country-styled Cajun seafood with the distinctive richness of Creole cuisine. It is founded by TungLok Group Singapore, which itself is quite infamous for some of its vegetarian to seafood establishments in Singapore. Their establishments have branched out across the country with Merlion as its iconic symbol, from Japan, China, Vietnam to Indonesia. In Indonesia, there are two establishments, which are The Humble House and of course, The Dancing Crab.
To be frank, I am not too fond of crabs, nor do I know much about seafood. But I do know about taste, and let me cover the food up for you in the simplest way.
I visited Dancing Crab with a partner, and bringing him here is a good idea since he will be my compass when it comes to seafood. We started fresh with a bag of seafood.
From the seafood combos, we had the strongly recommended Combo Bag #01 (IDR 628 k) which consist of myself, yes, prawns 😀 (never get tired of that joke!), clams, mussels, sausages, corns, potatoes, and needless to say, humongous crab. With mild Dancing Crab Signature sauce, the flavour it demonstrated is more about the complex combination of sweet, savoury, zesty yet spicy. I particularly noticed the zesty character, which complemented the whole pack of seafood gorgeously.
I found that the crab was particularly good. Despite my total hate of fussy trouble in picking out the hard shell, I enjoyed it! Getting ‘dirty’ can actually be fun! Oh, the prawns were equally fresh and delish under the blanket of the signature sauce.
As I said, I need a seafood lover to validate my opinion, and my partner couldn’t agree more. He actually was so impressed, he couldn’t stop munching most of the food lying on the table 😀
All combos and seafood are served with choice of:
– Dancing Crab Signature (Mild, Spicy, or Extra Spicy)
– Zesty Garlic Butter
– Beurre Blanc
– Herb Butter
– Chili Sauce
– Black Pepper
Other than the obvious party-pleaser above, we tried a couple of other goods as below.
# Lemonade (IDR 28 k) – King Lemonade and Blue Ocean Lemonade!
You know how lemonade tastes right? Refreshing & sour! And it was what we needed at that time. From the pictures, the King Lemonade is the red one, and the Blue Ocean Lemonade is the blue one.
# Beer Battered Mushroom (IDR 45 k)
This was actually a great starter. The Beer Battered Mushroom was quite crunchy on the outside, and soft on the inside. With a good spicy mayo dip, I was happy!
# Fish Taco (IDR 49.5 k)
From the 9 choices of lunch menus, I picked myself the one that really intrigued me, Fish Taco! And my choice was right. The Fish Taco was served in three handfuls portion, with golden fried fish fillet and fresh coleslaw. I loved every bit of the combination, as it came out fresh, savoury and packed with fish punch.
After the big feast, I headed to the restroom, and found funny writing on the wall saying like, “Hand wash. Final chance to lick your fingers!“. I lol’ed! 😀
My impression throughout my visit is really positive. Even though you’re not a crab eater (like me), I think Dancing Crab has much more to over you. From the lunch menu itself, there are plenty to choose from. Seafood Laksa, Fish Soup, Waffles & Chicken, Jamaican Black Pepper (Shrimp/Beef) or maybe Fish Beignet. Other than those, you might want to try the Lobster Roll and Fish and Chips!
Do hurry and visit soon, as The Dancing Crab is having their 20% off (all food) opening promotion!
