If you read my previous post about my staycation at Royal Tulip Gunung Geulis Resort & Golf, this is the spin off, a totally separated blogpost but somehow connected, from the Royal Tulip universe. 😉 If you haven’t read the post, you can click here to read that post first.
FIRE Grill Bar is one of the 2 restaurants that you can visit in the Royal Tulip Gunung Geulis resort. The restaurant is located on a separated building, with total of 2 floors to cater its guests. FIRE is a special restaurant to me because they serve amazing pizza! I’m not a big fan of pizza (not a hater too) but the pizza here was an absolute delight! They use wood fired oven to bake pizza to ensure its smoky flavor. Not only that, they also serve house dry-aged beef that left us drooling all over the floor! More of this down below!
The FIRE building is more or less an open-air building, with modern interior. The key to the amazing atmosphere is the clean fresh air that freely roams the whole building. The light breeze of air soothes the skin, blowing away all the stress and leave us with only the feeling of content. But that’s not all. The aroma of food also build up guests’ appetite.
Let’s see what we had that nice serene evening where the only noise we heard was constant laughter from friends and other guests.
# Cheese Platter
Look at the gorgeous cheese! This is heaven for the cheese lovers!
# 28-Day Dry-Aged US Prime Beef
FIRE is now focused with Dry-Aged* Beef which they control the dry-age themselves with meticulous and attentive manner. The result was amazing, boldly proving how serious they were with the Dry-Aged Beef, not as a gimmick, but as a specialist. Just look at the pictures below. The meat was amazingly tender, still retained its juiciness, plus it had the specific depth of flavor that only dry-aging process could do. The condiments were purposely made simple, such as assorted salt (there was a grain of truffle salt!) and cheese fondue. This way, the dry-aged beef could still shine without being overwhelmed by condiments. In fact, the salt on the side actually enhanced every little part of the meat and multiplied the effect of the dry-aging.
*Dry-age is a process of storing (by exposing to air in order to dehydrate the meat) the higher grade of meat for at least few days and up to several weeks to allow enzymes naturally present in the meat to break down the muscle tissue, resulting in much improved texture and flavor.
# BBQ Tandoori Ribs
The next dish is BBQ Tandoori Ribs and just so you know, THIS WAS DAYUM! The size of the US Rib was huge. The method of cooking this dish requires a 36 hour slow cooking, then paired with super fragrant bordelaise and homemade pickle. As a result, the rib meat fell of easily and had rich flavour from the bordelaise (made from wine). The pickled served as a refreshing change to the bold sauce, neutralizing any overwhelming aftertaste that came to our tastebuds.
# Fire Tagliata Di Manzo
This is one of the signature dishes at FIRE. The cut used is US Rib Eye, served on wild arugula, tomato cherry, 24-month shaved parmesan, truffle and balsamic reduction. Mainly because of the initial explosive taste from the dry-aged beef, this dish tasted pale in comparison. Texture-wise, taste-wise, it actually lacked the overall punch from the Dry-Aged Beef.
# Lamb Chop Hoisin
I ordered this because I love Lamb Chop. The rack of Lamb Chops looked beautiful with perfect glaze and the garlic butter rice smelled super good. Tbh, I had this high expectation, having tasted amazing dishes beforehand by FIRE. Because of the sky high expectation, it felt a bit short. The lamb chop was indeed tender. The flavor of the sauce was a bit off for me. Maybe because it’s rather sweet and nutty in the aftertaste.

Apart from those above, we had the array of burgers, pizza and chicken wings. ALL OF THOSE WERE AMAZING. HONESTLY. AMAZING. The Beef Salami Pizza was so good, I won’t ever forget the taste of the smokiness, the generous perfect melting cheese and the thin pizza crust that I’d never found in the pizzeria in Jakarta. Yes, it’s THAT good. The burger and the chicken wings were divine as well!
For those who can drink, pairing these dishes with red wine would be a definition of heaven.
For me, enjoying exquisite delight like these with the good company of beloved friends, and a sip of mocktail while feeling the cold breeze on top of Gunung Geulis is a definition of happiness.
