I love sushi, and most of you do love sushi too I bet. One restaurant franchise from Singapore, called Itacho, might have rung a bell, right?
If you know it, do you love it?
Me, I personally love it. Not as much as I love some other sushi restaurants, but still, it managed to satisfy my sushi craving every time I visited it.
The idea of Itacho sushi is pretty much like a humble sushi restaurant that more focus in serving sushi/sashimi per piece. With that method, customers get to taste more choices without the worry to over-order a specific menu that they might not really fond of. Price-wise, it might seem cheap as well (it’s not that cheap anyway, just reasonably standard).
The way to put an order is just by writing the code and quantity of the menu that you like on the paper they provide on the table, and give it to the waiter/waitress nearby. Your menu will be out in 5-10 minutes… or not. Well, depends. From some visits of mine, they would eventually come to us and say that menu a or b or c was sold out. Then, the disappointment occured. ;( Well, hopefully they will be able to manage better with the supply issue because really, the words “sold out” were such a turn off.
On the other side, Itacho Sushi has always had a kind of promotion in the form of discounted price for some menu selections.
Anyway, during this visit, mostly we ordered our standard menu which we had come for on repeat.
#219 Roasted Fatty Salmon – Sushi (IDR 11 k/piece)
All time favourite. Not exactly the best, but it was simply satisfying for me. The roasted top of the fatty salmon created a smoky flavor, but still leaving a soft and tender texture of the salmon for us to enjoy.
#429 Salmon Salad Lobster Roll – Creative Roll (IDR 26 k/2 pieces)
It is actually lobster salad on top of the salmon sashimi wrap. Amongst all, this is our most favourite one from Itacho. The lobster salad was chilling and delicious and the salmon sashimi wrap was perfectly fresh. The combo simply mind-blew us away. For this specific menu, I admit that it is priced pretty cheap (and I hope it stays that way) š
#422 Salmon Spring Roll – Creative Roll (IDR 25 k/2 pieces)
Another creative creation. This roll might actually be influenced by the VietnameseĀ spring roll. With fresh salmon as the main ingredient, the spring roll did not disappoint.
#2022 Unagi and Ikura Steamed Sushi (IDR 22k – discounted price)
This bowl is pretty unique. Consisting of steamed sushi rice with unagi and ikura, it turned out to be pretty good and flashy. A good deal indeed!
#433 Teriyaki Chicken Roll (IDR 40 k/8 pieces/roll – discounted price)
This was one of the new sushi rolls that they promoted. The price was rather cheap and we tried to order it. The Teriyaki Chicken Roll did not disappoint at all! The chicken cube on top was tasty and packed with the flavour of the teriyaki sauce. And with a touch of mayo, the sushi roll was pretty creamy in texture. Another good value for money dish at Itacho!
#432 Beef Stew Tobiko Roll (IDR 60 k/8 pieces/roll – discounted price)
Another sushi roll with discounted price. We initially wanted to order the other roll, Spicy Salmon Roll, so badly. It looked lovely and bang, the supervisor told me it was sold out. Well, it was just around 12. I mean, did they open at 8 in the morning without me knowing? If it’s sold out in mere 1 hour, I think the management is pretty bad with ingredients’ supply. Like I said, “sold out” is such a turn off. š But well, we ordered the beef roll instead. And guess what? We didn’t like it. The taste was a bit weird, for a sushi. The beef stew seemed to suit better in the form of donburi, not sushi. Oh, they even forgot to put the tobiko on our roll. The name is Beef Stew Tobiko Roll, right?
Those are all we had that lunch. Mainly, Itacho just has to improve its service and supply issue. The experience dining in here was kind of a love hate situation, but mostly love I guess. It’s what keep us coming! š
