Seniman Coffee Studio. The RIGHT place to have your coffee.

It’s undeniable that Seniman Coffee Studio is one of the most happening coffee joints in Bali right now.

Heard a lot of rumours and decided to see it myself last visit in May 2014. And on the first day (when I couldn’t stop getting a phone call from my office), we dropped by here and the place was not that hard to find.

It’s quite easy to find, since you can just ask the people around about this place, and they will just tell you in a happy manner. The place itself stood up quite alright, and you can see the signboard with the funny face. There’s something artistic about the signboard though.

Seniman Coffee Studio, BaliAfter stepping our feet in (shoes off please!), we just knew how people really love the place. It’s homey, warm, and just felt right as a spot where people can just enjoy their slow-paced life, chattering with friends and enjoy a good cup of coffee. I kinda see it as a social house, a social studio. A place where you just go to hang out with friends, or be alone with coffee, or to kill time when you’re bored, and to find inspiration when you’re stuck. It’s just THE PLACE.

The atmosphere was very casual, very welcoming and somehow, it relaxed our muscle for a moment. I was tense because of my possessive work (which couldn’t leave me alone when I took leave just for 2 days!), and sitting inside here, made me a bit relaxed, calm. After getting a menu book, we just (honestly) ordered quite randomly. The waiter did explain to us what we need to hear tho’, and she was very lovely throughout our visit that day.

We ordered a cup of Flat White and a cup of Piccolo for ourselves. I also couldn’t resist to have the Chocolate Brownie, which is made with Valrhona.

Our cups of coffee came fast, and they were served in long wooden tray, accompanied with a glass of water and their signature roll dessert, with shredded coconut and palm sugar inside.

# Flat White (IDR 28 k)

This one was explained vaguely by the waiter, saying that this one consists of more milk. As we might know it, Flat White has a lot of interpretations, depends on the cafe or coffee joints you visit. At Seniman, the overall flavour of the Flat White was quite calm. We could taste the coffee, but it just tasted quite light. The texture was quite velvety and to us, we loved the comforting light flavour.

# Piccolo (IDR 28 k)

Described as 80% coffee and 20% milk by the waiter, I was intrigued. It came in a cute racoon-like latte art (:P), served with a glass of water and the sweet roll. The piccolo was awesome. It was bold, and the coffee really shown its colour, amazingly balanced with the silky milk. It was just right for me. Especially for the sweet roll, which came in handy with the piccolo as the main show, it added perfect sweetness. With them, I could enjoy the best of both worlds.

# Chocolate Brownie (IDR 20 k)

The shape of the brownie was not that appetising. It came in a small shape, topped with sugar icing. However, the taste was a bomb. It had this chocolatey goodness and the rough texture played a good part inside my mouth. It’s a quite small, unfortunately. Well, you can always have more, as long as they don’t run out of it. 😀

We did take away a pack of Sulawesi Toraja Kalosi. It’s for a gift.

Seniman Coffee Studio is quite something. I really love the place. It serves good coffee, good desserts with welcoming crew. The place is just perfect for you, the extroverts, or even the introverts who enjoy good coffee. It’s just simply a perfect place to chill, somehow with contagious comforting energy. As an added bonus, it has an amazingly fast wifi that actually saved my day, since my work is all about emailing and stuff.

So, curious?

Btw, they also have a workshop just across the spot. Didn’t ask for details, thus I couldn’t explain about it. It seems like a place for training and stuff. 🙂

  1. Hi Food Venturer,

I recently came across your website while looking for interesting food blogs in Jakarta.

I am part of the Community Management team for Zomato.com, an online restaurant search guide that recently launched in Indonesia.

We know that as a passionate food blogger and restaurant reviewer, followers value your opinion and so we always like to meet up with people like yourself in each new city to get your feedback on Zomato and the features you might like to see on the website or mobile app. I was wondering if you would be available to grab a quick cup of coffee at a place convenient for you sometime soon.

Please let me know, I look forward to hearing from you.

    Best regards,

    Shabrina Koeswologito
