Just this morning, after church-ing early in the morning, I went to have a breakfast. Traditionally, I would be looking for Chinese Noodle, Medanese stuff, or something light for the belly. Instead, I went off the grid and eventually found a little cafe in the street of Boulevard Raya Kelapa Gading. Like I said, normally, I won’t be interested in visiting a cafe in the morning, but I was intrigued by the name of the place, 6 O’clock (and the comforting facade). What immediately flashed through my mind was breakfast! That’s what I was looking for, right?
Then, my loved one and I just parked our car, and went inside. The place is nice! It might be small, but it’s comfortable, simple, and it seems like the right place to have a breakfast and a cup of coffee.
We sat and grabbed the nearest small menu board, then quickly observed what we could order. My loved one seemed to be not hungry, so a glass of fresh milk became a target. I honestly had no idea why and quickly rolled my eyes (:D), then had my eyes fixed on the main courses. I decided to go for a safe choice, and English Style Fish & Chips, which has a “recommended” icon, seemed right for a breakfast. I was not in the mood for omelette or sausage (the waiter recommended the homemade sausage for our breakfast).
After waiting for 15 minutes, my main course was served. Let’s see. Oh anyway, I don’t need to explain about the fresh milk. It’s “Diamond”‘s fresh milk anyway. 🙁
# Hot Cappuccino (IDR 15 k) & Hot Tea (Free for 6.00 – 11.00)
I ordered a cup of cappuccino because when I asked the waiter whether it had some latte art or not, he said yes. Eventually, no latte art was on the cappuccino. Perhaps he thought a sprinkle of coffee powder is a kind of latte art. Perhaps. Anyway, the cappuccino did taste quite good, but I couldn’t really taste the espresso, though. It was very light.
# English Style Fish & Chips (IDR 38k)
This one was a classic! The breaded fish fillets (with a splash of lemon juice) were amazingly delicious, well-seasoned, crispy and what’s great, it’s oil-free! The honey mustard was great, and it really complemented the fish! Anyway, it was served with potato wedges and fresh salad. This dish, is really recommended!
After seeing a sign of free fresh mushroom soup, I immediately looking for “how”. Apparently, for one to get mushroom soup, one has to post a selfie pic with one main course, then upload it to Facebook or instagram (hashtag required). So, with some determination (and shame!), I decided to post a selfie with my Fish & Chips on Instagram. Oh, it’s really embarrassing especially with my barely-awake face and drooping eyes. Anyway, fresh Mushroom Soup became minen (the point of getting this Mushroom Soup was just for photographing it) 😀
# Fresh Mushroom Soup (Free with some requirements)
The fresh Mushroom Soup looked boring. It came without any garnish at all, and only accompanied by a slice of garlic bread. My plan on taking a good pic of it, vanished. So I just did what I could and enjoyed it. The mushroom soup wasn’t great, only an okay.
In the end, I was pretty happy to find a place like this. It specializes in breakfast, lunch and coffee. For breakfast and lunch, I seriously think the place will be fine with the food. I see professionalism, and seriousness from the owner just by looking at the type of food, the place and the overall. For coffee, I actually think it still has room for improvement. They need to widen up the range of coffee-based choices.
For you, morning people, this place might be a really good place for you. By the name of the cafe, I think it starts opening at 6 every day. I didn’t ask for it though. I will definitely be back again later for the sausage and omelette. Maybe a session of lunch will be great too. 🙂
