I finally had the chance to visit St. Ali Jakarta and I was completely satisfied.

The first glimpse of the place had already made me feel, hmm, pleased. I imagined the place that way, with a bit of Bali vibe, kind of outdoor and have no air-con. It is pretty spacious and it has semi-indoor area which seems to be dominated by brick pattern. Well, but it has come to my mind that during the draught or dry season, the place must be burning hot. Well, that’s for later to worry about right.

Anyway, quick brunch and I had Smoking Pig and a cup of Latte (IDR 38k). Both were amazing. Coffee was the best I’d ever had. The Smoking Pig (IDR 104k) was great, even thought was a little bit heavy on the salty side. I liked it how they roasted some of the cauliflower and pureed some too. The roasted texture and smoky flavour brought out the best of the pork belly. The creamy puree was complementing the pork belly as well.

My friend came later and had his Cappuccino (IDR 38k). He did say how good the coffee was despite he being the less coffee aficionado than I am.

The truth is, for me, St. Ali lives up to its reputation. IMHO, they have the best coffee amongst what I’d ever tasted to date. Standing very closely with 1/15 and Giyanti. Some people might have other opinions, I know. But this is for me, my best yet. According to my opinion. Let’s agree to disagree, lads.

Okay, if you were like me, living inside a cave and have never been here before, go to Setiabudi One and find this place. Have a taste of their coffee that will make you say “Oh..” and “Ah..”, and then nod your head a couple of times. 😉
