Foodventurers, let me say this first. Gong Xi Fat Cai Hung Pao Na Lai to the ones who celebrate it! 😉
Well, in this happy new year, let me introduce you to one of the sweetest hut in Pantai Indah Kapuk area. The name is Sweet Hut, which is located strategically in Ruko Cardoba. I bet you will certainly not miss its presence if you happen to pass the road. It’s pretty eye-catching with its cute doll-house like exterior. With its bright red and white exterior, it certainly depicts the merry and sweet ambiance you will get once you enter the dining area. It certainly is a nice addition to the world of culinary in this famous area.
Sweet Hut has two separated dining areas, indoor and outdoor. The indoor area is as pretty as the facade, dominated, of course by the red and white paints. The table setting and the ornaments are neatly arranged and it seems that girls will definitely fancy the place. Mostly surrounded by glass, it’s of course has great perks when it comes to photo taking. The natural lighting just brings the best of everything to please our eyes.
The outdoor itself looks like a completely different area. It is equipped with simple table and chairs, and big red umbrellas for each table. Somehow, it just seems fun and playful outside with a touch of romantic vibe. You can certainly bring your date here! But, not when the weather is hot! 😀
Sweet Hut is actually a franchise from Malaysia which was brought here by the owner due to its foreseen demand to sweet treats in Indonesia. I could certainly see why when I saw the menu, which is mostly refreshing sweet dishes that can certainly please the tastebuds of many food enthusiasts. The management is the same to the one who owns the fried chicken joint, Brooaster Chicken, the recently transformed, A Gantea, and the family entertainment, Karaoke PIK. Oh, they have a beneficial (and cute) VIP card too that you can sign up for with various great benefits and little membership cost. You should check it out if you’re a fan of at least, one of the joints mentioned above.
As a patron in Sweet Hut, you can also order the drinks from A Gantea! It will be delivered to you in no time. For example, this Hawaiian Fruit Tea (L) was certainly a complete refreshment. It was very citrusy and somehow, tasted tropical. It was just perfect for the fine day!
Okay, let’s check some of the treats that I tried.
# French Mille Crepe Chocolate (IDR 38 k)
Mille Crepe has become one of the popular cake in Jakarta, and of course, Sweet Hut followed the trend wisely. There were several choices available, but I ended up picking up the chocolate. It was definitely a right call! The Mille Crepe was great, with countless soft chocolatey layers. The cream between each layer was real good and it had this chilling sensation in my tongue when I chewed it. Some Mille Crepe can be a bit overwhelming if they use too much cream, but this, was just right!
# Coconut Pudding with Caramel Pudding (IDR 50 k)
What’s perfect for a hot sunny day? I smell coconut! Yes, Sweet Hut serves a whole upgraded coconut for you! This Coconut Pudding with Caramel Pudding was awesome. It was definitely my favourite as I could really sip the refreshing coconut milk and tasted the goodness of fine ingredients. The sweet element is actually the caramel pudding, which was a perfect match for the not-too-sweet coconut milk. Simply recommended.
Going on to the savoury side, Sweet Hut served two kinds of heavy meal at the time. One of it was this Crumbly Chicken which honestly, didn’t look too appetizing at all. But that’s when I was wrong. The Crumbly Chicken might have appeared plain and dry. But it’s actually really good. The outer layer was smartly wrapped with some cornflakes batter and deep fried to perfection, resulting in a very crunchy savoury texture. The chicken inside was tender, in contrast to the outer layer. The mushroom sauce went well with the chicken, but even without it, the chicken itself had claimed its place in my heart.
# Baked Marquis Chocolate Pudding with Cookies Ice Cream (IDR 50 k)
Let’s welcome the most main stream dessert ever, which is a lava cake with melting chocolate inside. Nowadays, you can almost find it in any cafes. Sweet Hut served a pretty good one, though, with good melting chocolate inside. One of the good things is that they made the chocolate cake less sweet. With a good sweet scoop of Cookies ice cream, the whole dish blended perfectly well.
Here’s the special edition! The Christmas make over for the Chocolate Mousse. Not for sale though! 😉
But taste-wise, the chocolate mousse was pretty good too. But maybe I was too full already after the series of treats I had savoured, so this cake felt a bit heavy for my stomach.
IMHO, Sweet Hut is certainly one of the most recommended joints in PIK when it comes to desserts. At times, I could be a bit scared when I heard about a cafe or restaurant that specialises in desserts, as I would imagine about the tons of sugar they might need to use in creating the delicacies. However, at Sweet Hut, the desserts they serve seems safe. One thing I noticed is that the desserts I tried were not that sweet. After encouraging myself to ask them, they told me that Sweet Hut actually used natural ingredients in crafting their beloved desserts. So, it’s definitely a relief! We can enjoy the sweet treats with less guilt! Ain’t that good? 🙂
So, all in all, if you ask me, I will certainly come back for more! There are many more selections of desserts that look super good which I haven’t tried yet. For the sweet tooth out there, don’t forget to give Sweet Hut a chance of visit. Who knows you might agree with me. <3
