As Christmas is getting closer, I just get happier. How’s not? Christmas means snow! Well, not in Indonesia tho’. For me, aside from the religious aspect, it means celebration and laughter, and seeing giant tree with cute decor. It pretty much means happiness.

Tesate, from Sari Rasa group, joins in for the celebration and offers a Christmas promotion. They launched a Christmas set menu which of course, involves Indonesian cuisine, Racikan Selat Lidah. This set menu has several options. You can order individual set menu, or a set for 2 persons, and a set for 4 persons. In detail, in the set menu, you will get Racikan Selat Lidah (including perkedel galantine & salad), Mulberry Mixed and Klapper taart.

2 Persons: IDR 395k
4 Persons: IDR 699k

We got to enjoy this set menu generously, and as you can see on my pictures, it’s the set menu for 4 persons.

What is Racikan Selat Lidah?
It’s a Dutch-influenced Indonesian cuisine from Solo and it combines a tender braised beef tongue and tomato sauce along with some vegetables. It has a dire similarity with well-known steak, but in a traditional way.

Aside from this, there are also a plate of perkedel galantine and salad.

The Mulberry Mixed was equally good, and simply refreshing. The fresh mulberry bursting in my mouth was the best part. It certainly felt like Christmas.

As a sweet closure, Klapper Taart was delish. If you have no idea what Klapper Taart is, I will enlight you. It’s actually a young coconut cake and also a Dutch-influenced cake from Manado. In Tesate, they create their own version, bringing out more of their super smooth texture.

But well, our feast didn’t just involve the Christmas Set Menu. Here is the awesome dishes that we tried too.

1. Tahu Sampler (IDR 78 k)

Who loves gorengan? Well, I think most Indonesian people do! It’s in our vein and here at Tesate, they escalate much of the taste!

2. Sate Ayam Madura (IDR 69 k)

Juicy chicken in rustic marinade, served with sweet peanut souce.
Satay has always been genuinely Indonesian. In Tesate, Sate Ayam Madura is spot on with its tenderness. Oh, not to mention the smooth, rich and nutty peanut sauce.

3. Sate Sapi Maranggi (IDR 124 k)

Spiced tender beef coated in toasted grated coconut.
For a fan of sate maranggi, this will be your joyous dish. The beef was tender, coated well with traditionally grated coconut. Yum!

4. Kerapu Bakar Jimbaran (IDR 64 k/100 g)

The delicate flavour of live Kerapu fish is enchance by grilling in robust Jimbaran marinade.
My most favourite of the day! I meant, Kerapu if cooked well, will be amazing especially with its delicate texture. With the spices that reminded me of Bali, the Kerapu Bakar Jimbaran was simply a steal!

5. Ongseng Kecipir (IDR 79 k)

Crunchy Kecipir is combined with delicious chewy beef tendon.

Oh, I really think you should celebrate your Christmas here if you fancy it in Indonesian style. The place here in Tesate Menteng is great, clean and even better, instagrammable!

For the food itself, it’s no question that Tesate stands as one of the few best Indonesian Restaurants in Jakarta. So, visit Tesate soon?
