The Bistrot. One of the best Restaurants in Bali. It is absolutely pretty, it is completed with vintage stuffs, and the heart-warming ambiance will just blow your busy hectic mind away. I remembered the first time I saw the place in November 2012, it had made a great impression to me. It was sort of newly-opened at the time. Though it was a long time ago, I can remember this place vividly.
Located at the strategic corner of the upmarket area in Bali, Seminyak, The Bistrot quickly took my attention when I was passing the road with a motorcycle. The facade is vintage-ish, kind of quirky and exquisite in a way that appeals people who want to have a nice lovely lunch or romantic dinner. The combination of industrial-look and elegance really captured my interest, I decided to have another session of lunch here even though we had just had our lunch already.
After stepping inside, the impression came far greater than I expected. Inside, there were pretty sofas, tables and cutleries. There were also beautiful vintage chandeliers, woody panelling, and all sort of vintage decorations and photographs. Everything was arranged beautifully and as a result, I am quite sure most patrons will agree if I say that The Bistrot is one of the most prettiest restaurants.
The warm smile of the waitress was welcoming and we were quickly seated at the place we wanted. After a quick glance, I decided to go with the Focaccia and a glass of refreshing Orange Squash. After that, I walked around the place, admiring the photographs hung on the wall. There is a second floor too, with similar ambiance, completed with a bar. The place is huge, really, like an empty warehouse with high ceiling, enhanced with a perfect vision of what it should be, a conceptualised restaurant designed to make patrons feel like they have been carried to another world of antique and elegance. At least, it made that impression to me. I was carried away, and I think that this place is a real gem.
After drowned in amazement, the food eventually was served. My Bistrot Focaccia was there, executed in a simple yet perfectly fit manner. I quickly took a bite. I tasted the herbs in the focaccia, and the focaccia had this crunchy-ish texture, which was just very good in the mouth. The combination of fresh Rucola, olive oil and basil, and feta cheese stood out perfectly. The taste was somehow authentic and just, good.
The Orange Squash (30k) was pretty normal as far as I can tell. Orange juices with soda can’t fail you. But with the hot weather outside, this drink was ultimately refreshing. It was just the perfect choice.
The food, the drink, they were all just very well-executed. The presentation was lovely, as lovely as the place. Oh, one thing I can say is that I was and am really in love with The Bistrot.
You can always come and visit The Bistrot for breakfast (yes, they’re open in the morning too), lunch or even dinner. I prefer to go there at noon as the place just looks really nice with the daylight passing through the glasses of the windows. I can always lost myself in the calm and peaceful atmosphere.
Having only a brief experience in November 2012, I decided to come back again last year. And that time, we prepared a space for our belly. But I’ll just discuss it in another review.
If you happen to be or plan to go to Bali for a culinary trip, write this down on your must-visit-list. You might just fall in love with The Bistrot as well. 🙂
