Last weekend, I had a staycation at Grand Kemang Jakarta and it was real fun! Mostly because of the great service and the ICAD’s annual event that was happening at the time of staycation!
Did you know about ICAD? No? Same, I was clueless and I just knew that evening that ICAD stands Indonesian Contemporary Art & Design. They were having the 9th ICAD with theme #ICAD9KISAH. I still dunno much about ICAD but what I know is that they’re amazing at what they do and they did so well with their exhibition at Grand Kemang Jakarta. It perhaps one of the main reasons my staycation at Grand Kemang Jakarta so memorable. #ICAD9KISAH features teh artworks of 50 artists and designers, arranged so beautifully from the front door to every corners of the hotel ground. What really impressed me included their giant hand-painted comics on the wall, the egg-inspired table, the forever-color-changing glass work, the smoking lounge with vintage stuff, the postcard corner with the Semesta space where you can put your head inside and play with your imagination of what might happen in the future while rethinking about the past narratives. The last one was so uplifting, so bizarre and futuristic, I was mind-blown.

Anyway, Grand Kemang Jakarta is located in the heart of South Jakarta, and it’s at walking distance from many restaurants, shopping and entertainment venues and the famous vibrant night life of Kemang. This hotel has a total of 203 recently renovated guest rooms featuring contemporary decor and efficient furnishings. The hotel is equipped with fitness centre (indoor gym), a big pool with beautiful giant tree, business centre and D’Spa, in case you need some relaxation.
Our room was pretty lovely and we had very little to complain about.
The bed itself was cozy but slightly too soft for my liking. The best part of the room was the big tilted-triangle-shaped window where I could sit there forever with my cozy pillows while watching the rain. Oh eating cakes and sipping mocktail in the room were lovely as well!
Every Saturday Night, they’re having Saturday BBQ Night by the pool starting from 6 PM. You can enjoy fresh seafood (trust me, it’s so fresh I had a lot! I did not dare to check or even think of my cholesterol level that evening). My favourite was their super tender squid and fragrant fish (with various condiments). Call them to inquire about this dinner!
Morning breakfast was great too. The choices were okay but the overall taste was really fulfilling, so I was happy, again!

To sum up, I’d say Grand Kemang is a great hotel and it’s worth your time and penny if you like to lay low and just enjoy the hotel quietly. Another plus point is the location that I found so strategic. Just across the hotel, there’s Kem Chick, a super market where we could just buy anything that we needed like more water, snacks and stuff. And if you’re feeling hungry and do not feel like dining in the hotel, there are plenty of restaurants and cafes nearby, that serve Indonesian, Italian to Turkish cuisine. You can explore the area by foot or by online taxi. So if you’re ever intended to stay around this area, I suggest you consider Grand Kemang as your choice.
