The Moorish & Minangkabau Charm of Novotel Bukittinggi.

I got questions on instagram for this particular hotel from my recent trip and I just have to share about it asap. ASAP means today! Here’s Novotel Bukittinggi and the place is beautiful!

Also the most frequently-asked question from the past few weeks was “Are you going on a tour?”
Nope! I actually had an amazing opportunity to participate in the Trip of Wonders 2018, a project by our Ministry of Tourism to promote Indonesia to other countries. The core of this project is the bloggers from outside of Indonesia, such as The United States, UK, Romania, Brazil, Spain, Canada, Netherland and also from Asia, Korea, India and Hong Kong! Then there were 4 bloggers from Indonesia that were tasked to accompany them during the trip and it was an amazing experience! Long story short, I am forever grateful I was a part of this incredible well-organised trip!

Anyway, there were lots of questions and I might be able to answer it directly or I will just share them on another post, but here’s the agenda for today, Novotel Bukittinggi!

This 4-star hotel, which is located 76 km away from the International Airport Minang Kabau, is really beautiful. It was probably one of the best in Bukittinggi, well, not that I know many hotels there but it’s actually surprise me. The architecture, especially, was the one that caught my attention. The combination of Minangkabau and Moorish was done meticulously & beautifully and the building simply looks majestic. Every corner I that I met, was simply instagenic. Like the gorgeous lobby, the frame of the windows, and the outdoor swimming pool area. I was pretty stunned.

Check out some pictures of this place!

The dinner at Sianok Restaurant.

And the breakfast! Love!

The pool looked beautiful!

Donut anyone?

The perks that I felt staying at this hotel are:
– The strategic location of this hotel. It’s located in the centre of the town, within walking distance to Jam Gadang (the icon of Bukittinggi), Pasar Atas, Benteng Fort de Kock, and Jambatan Limpapeh.
– Some rooms have amazing view of Mount Singgalang out of their windows!
– The open-air restaurant, Sianok Restaurant, served pretty good food, both Asian and Western cuisines. And what impressed me the most was the breakfast choices, which were divine! Especially the Lontong Padang. Really tasty!
– The atmosphere here was really fresh, cold-ish with very nice breeze.
– They have swimming pool, fitness centre, and beautiful garden.
– The Wifi was great.

Some notes for the parts that might need improvement are:
– Service in the restaurant was rather slow. But the waiters/waitresses were all very nice.
– Some corners of this hotel need rejuvenation.
– The pool was really inviting, but needed more effort in the cleaning part.

Here are the photos of the room (Deluxe Room) we were staying in.
It’s 30 sqm. Not very spacious, but it felt big enough for me. 🙂

Well, the hotel is very recommended and for me, if I was to pay for the room (it cost around IDR 800k per night on online travel agent), I would still think it’s totally worth every penny! But if you want the best view, choose the Deluxe Room with Mountain View (it cost around IDR 950k). You won’t regret it.

So, see you next time here in this hotel? 😉
